Linz, the capital of Upper Austria, is both a city of culture and of industry. Located at the Danube, it features a historic downtown and a modern university campus just north of the Danube, where the conference will take place. For more information about Linz and its places of interest, see the tourist information.

The Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU) was founded in 1966. Although a young university, it has already become a cutting-edge institution for science, academics, business and the community. Over 19,000 students are enrolled in over 60 academic degree programs.

The Department of Computer Science is a vibrant place to study and a premier institution for research. The department employs a 35-strong tenured faculty and has more than 1000 enrolled students (roughly 650 Bachelor, 300 Master, and 80 PhD students).

By plane

Linz has its own airport, but only few flights go directly to Linz. It is easier to fly to Vienna. There are direct trains from the Vienna airport to Linz.

By train and public transport

Linz is on the main railway line between Vienna and Salzburg. From the railway station take the tramway no. 1 or 2 (direction Auhof/Universität, about 30-40 minutes). Leave at the final stop (Universität) and follow the map above.

By car

Linz is on the highway A1 between Vienna and Salzburg. Leave the A1 highway towards Linz/Prague using highway A7. Pass Linz and take the exit "Dornach/Universität" about 1km after crossing the Danube. At the next traffic light go straight ahead for about 750 meters. There are parking lots to the left and to the right (liable to charges).

We recommend the following hotels, which are all in the city center (about 20-30 minutes from the conference venue; use tram 1 or 2). The prices below include a discount, which you will get until August 18 if you mention "ManLang'18" during your booking.
